making sandals from used motorcycle tires
Tire waste is one of the wastes that is naturally difficult to decompose, it takes decades to decompose so that its existence can disturb the preservation of this nature.
One way to deal with tire waste is to turn it into useful items such as pots, tables, chairs, trash cans, slippers and others.
This time I will use the waste of motor tires into sandals.
Material :
- used motorcycle tires (large size)
- used inner tube
- nails
Tool:
- a cutting knife
- small knife
- scissor
- Hammer
How to make
- make sandal treads from used motorcycle tires
- make a sash with used inner tubes
- make a thin incision in the tread of the sandal for the sash.
- put on the sash
For more details, my friend, watch the video until it runs out ...

as a hobbyist craftsman here in the US, i absolutely love watching makers from developing areas work. they could easily say "i can't do it, i don't have the resources," but they manage to come up with some really inventive ways to make their products. it seems like here in the states, we tell ourselves we can't do X task without Y tool/machine, and these guys are constantly coming up with simple but genius improvisations. i've adopted several of these methods into my own work.
When I visited India, a guy on the street made a custom pair of sandals for me using similar tools. It's been almost two years and still going strong. I paid $3.
